German Beer Glasses – anyone know what the various sizes are called in Bavaria & Austria?
I'd really like to know the German for what Bavarians and Austrians call their variously-sized beer glasses. I guess there would be different names for the 330ml, the half-litre, the litre, as well as for the jumbo- sized glasses you often see in pictures of the Oktoberfest in Munich. My German dictionary seems useless for this question, so I'd be grateful for any help.
In Austria the most important ones are "Seiderl" (0.33 litres, may also be spelled Seidl or Seidel) and "Krügerl" or "Halbe" depending on where in Austria you are (0.5 litres). There is also "Pfiff" which is even smaller than a Seiderl, I think it might be 0.2 or 0.25 litres. And of course a "Maß", 1 litre, like those they hand out at the Oktoberfest in Bavaria.
