Grad school: How many pages do students read on average?
It depends on what you're studying. I did History. In the humanities, per class, you'll have to read at least 1 full book a week, and then write a short paper on it. This doesn't include your major writing assignements or research papers. As far as a numerical estimate, I'd say around 300 pages per class. If you take a full load of classes, you could be reading around 1000 pages a week. I can't speak about the various science programs, but in the humanities, it really is a lot of reading.
Man, I feel tired now realizing how much I used to read each week!
