how do you patch an indor wall after a small hole was cut into it?

I like finding out how different problems are solved.

i have done this many many times as i worked for years as a mainainance man at a busy nite club and along with kids punching the walls i had to cut them open for wiring etcetera.Here we go.
1. trim the edges without enlarging the hole.
2. cut a piece of wall board 1 inch bigger than the hole ( the patch).
3 with a piece of paper make a pattern of the void
4. trace this pattern on the BACK of the patch piece
5. with your knife cut around this pattern and make radiating lines out to the edge
6. carefully remove the outside material. being carefull not to disturb the paper on the front.
now you should be getting the idea of what to do. put ample mud (NOT SPACKLE!!!) (drywall mud not some stuff from the drainage ditch) on the patch and around the edges of the hole and work as if it was a piece of drywall tape. This method really works and if anybody can improve on it then are a genius. If you dont like this method go jump on your head.
