Plated Large

How do waiters hold up that large plate with several meals above their heads without dropping it?

I've gone out to eat many many times, and only once in my life have I seen a waiter drop the large plate or whatever you call it.

It's all about practice and balance. I'm 5"2; 120 lbs and all my tables get scared when they see me with this huge brown tray above my head with like 6 dinner plates on it. It gets heavy but your positioning helps you balance it. That's why servers absolutely hate when their customers try to help them out by taking things off the tray for them. This almost always ends in a dropped tray. Its about balance and the plates are positioned in a way that only the server can feel. So word of advice... if you are one of those nice customers who wants to help your server out with this huge tray piled up with plates, just don't! You'll only be left hungry in the end when the cooks have to recook your entire order bc it dropped on the floor!
