Does anyone have experience making scrapbooks for others? I want to make a scrapbook for my son who is?
graduating high school in June. I want to give it to him for a personal gift to always keep. He wasn't involved in sports in school but I have clippings from his bowling league, karate & honors classes I can put in. I just don't know how to arrange it or where to start. I know pictures also go in it. I have plenty of those. I also put this question in the arts/crafts catagory to get more advice. Thanks.
If I were getting a scrapbook, I would prefer to have it in chronological order particularly if it's starting from birth. You could possibly break it up year, by categories or achievements/milestones. You could do it by topic such as school, athletics, family events, etc. You could ask family members or his friends to write up some memories that will have meaning to him. You can add captions and stuff to describe the event or when it took place as well.
If you have any video making software and a scanner or pictures already stored on your computer, you might want to consider making a video instead and putting it on a CD/DVD. That way you could try to add music or other sound effects to it as well. I've been working on this for my brother and just had to drop and drag the pictures to where I wanted them. If necessary you might be able to find someone that might volunteer to work with you on this if you don't know how to work the program. There might even be a classmate of his or other student at his school that wants to get into this type of work that would be willing to help out in exchange for your willingness to use part of the video to demonstrate what they can do. You could just tell them how you want it arranged, and they could do the rest with your approval. I like a video idea because its more creative if you use different transitions and music or sound can be added.
