Do i have to write more than one essay for the Common App?
So im starting to apply to schools, and all the schools im applying to accept the common app. Do i have to write different essays for each school, or can i just copy and paste the same essay for each school?
The Common Application is called that because virtually any college or university in the US will take it. You write one essay from the essay section, but there are several other short answer sections and you have room to explain any discrepancies on your transcript, and so forth.
Also, be sure to check the websites of the colleges you are applying to because often times they have additional essays they want you to write, as well as short answer questions.
You can use the same Common Application essay for all the colleges you are applying to, but that's not really the greatest idea because unless you are just applying to different state schools, each private school will have different aspects and qualities they want to see in applicants. So you can use the same concept for one essay and tailor it for others. But give those essays the time they deserve because they do have a tramendous impact when your application (which is one of thousands) arrives to a college addmissions committe. You want your essay to stand out and make sure it shows who you are as a person.
You can fill out a generic version and make copies of it, and then add the name of the schools so you don't have to re-write the app several times.
