How do I cut a sheet of formica or similar laminate into small pieces?

A table saw with a 60 tooth carbide blade is the best way to cut laminates (Ive cut a LOT of laminate, lol) Using a blade with a high tooth count gives you a good clean cut with no chip out.

A bandsaw would also work, if you have a fine tooth blade.

A router would work, if you have a good straight edge to work with. When Im trimming laminate with a router, I use a laminate bit, or a spiral bit.

A circular saw would be my last choice, but it is possible... tape the laminate first, where you want to cut, to minimize chipping. Again, use a high tooth count blade for a better cut.

With any of these methods, you want the blade to be cutting down into the face of the laminate. Some saw fences do not necessarily sit flush with the saw surface, and you may need a board clamped to it, to use as a fence to run the laminate against.

You could most likely take the laminate to a local cabinet shop, and they could cut it for you in short order.
