I have a magnolia tree that has a crack or split in the bark. Do u know how treat it? I don't want it to die.?
the crack is 3 ft by maybe 4 inches wide and we just noticed it this spring.
That is very unusual for a magnolia tree. You didn't say how tall the tree was but the description sounds like the result of a lightning strike.
I doubt there is anything you can do. You might contact the local Master Gardeners for advice or an arborist.
